40 years ago Nottingham Forest achieved the impossible. No one had done it before, since and there's next to no prospect they ever will. The stories of their feats have been told and retold time and again but only sound more unbelievable to those not lucky enough to have seen it with their own eyes. Only more incredible than their feats was where it happened and the style with which the unlikely heroes made history. The world watched in disbelief. Within weeks they were written off as a flash in the pan, a bubble that was bound to burst. That bubble defied not only all attempts to burst it but the laws of physics themselves as it endured for years and never really did. People gave up waiting and accepted the incredible truth that was unfolding before their eyes.
Brian Clough and Peter Taylor made average footballers into world beaters and created teams that could play football with a simple flair and honest endeavour that swept away all obstacles that stood in their path. They made the impossible a reality.
TODAY
To mark this major anniversary of the remarkable feats of the late, great Brian Clough, Peter Taylor and the players they transformed into arguably the greatest football team the World has ever seen we are going to produce 12 new artworks that commemorate their amazing achievements in a wide range of formats for display around Nottingham.
We did hope to display them around the city during this year but were unable to get any timely positive action from the club to support the interest from the council prior to COVID-19 making the whole thing academic. Hopefully opportunities will arise in the coming years during the redevelopment of large parts of the city.
This is an unofficial, 100% fan-led initiative, inspired by the desire to mark the anniversary of these remarkable achievements and leave lasting reminders of them at various locations around Nottingham.
OUR DESIGNS
We published our designs as they are released each month throughout the year. These were in addition to our existing Icon series that feature in the Brian Clough Stand at The City Ground.
